Thank you for purchasing reusable masks and mask covers from Alfya Atelier. We started prototyping reusable masks since the COVID-19 outbreak but we were reluctant to launch it as we knew that wearing a reusable mask may not be a good substitute for a surgical mask. However, a reusable mask does provide basic protection for yourself and to others by keeping your cough or sneeze droplets to yourself.
Due to the global shortage of surgical masks, we believe surgical masks should be reserved for healthcare workers and people who are sick. These statements are further supported by the Singapore Government here:
After prototyping with different templates and fabrics, including waterproof and water-resistant, we find cotton woven fabric to be the most comfortable and breathable. Please see below for care and wash instructions to help you wear the mask in a safe and efficient manner.
All masks are sewn by Alfya Atelier Team and Alfya Gives Back (AGB) Trainees. AGB is a self-funded, free sewing training program for those from underprivileged backgrounds, persons with disabilities and special needs, individuals recovering from mental health issues, women and youth at risk etc, people looking for home-based flexi-employment, to develop and empower them with sewing skills and using them to earn income.
Thank you for your support! Please tag us at @alfya.atelier #AASewcialDistancing if you were to take any photos and posting on social media of you wearing the masks. That would be awesome!
#Stayhome, keep on #SewicalDistancing, stay safe and healthy everyone!
